Gas sensors used in process analysis are often susceptible to small particles in the gas stream. Accordingly, appropriate filtration is required so as not to contaminate the sensitive sensors.

Long sensor lifetimes can only be obtained with clean sample gas and also the smallest possible dead volume is demanded, in order to achieve the best response times. The new cmc Instruments filter housings are used for exacting tasks in the filtration of gases and liquids. The stable Duran glass filter housings allows visual inspection to assess the degree of pollution of the filter elements at any time. The sediment bowl is resistant to most chemicals and guarantees outstanding physical properties with low thermal expansion.

The filter element can be changed without tools very quickly. A single layer membrane filter is used for the separation of dust or particles from dry gases or a two-part coalescing and membrane filter element is used when aerosol droplets may also be present.

In addition to the excellent chemical properties of disposable filter elements made of borosilicate glass, there are also the regenerable MicraMesh filter cartridges made with stainless steel frits.

Applications include alkalis, acids, alcohols and chlorinated solvents. Here, the impurities are removed by washing, chemical treatment or by ultrasound which makes them ideally suited for filtration applications with high solids content where regular regeneration is required.

The filter housings are supplied with internal thread connections 1/4" NPT as standard, alternatively as 1/8" NPTF or as G 1/2". Dependent on the medium to be filtered Viton or PTFE seals can be supplied. The low pressure housings are designed for a maximum operating temperature of 100 °C and a pressure of 3 barg.

These inexpensive filter housings are an ideal solution where the filter element must be inspected, but without interrupting the sampling stream. The glass pot makes a fast visual estimate possible as to the degree of pollution. The high-grade steel lower part with central drain permits a fast change of filter cartridge.
